Dr. Nesé Yuksel is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta. She is also the Chair of the Practice Division at the faculty. Additionally, she holds a cross-appointment with Alberta Health Services as a Clinical Pharmacotherapy Practitioner and practices in the Menopause Clinics at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
Dr. Yuksel’s research goals include bridging her interests in women’s health, osteoporosis and practice-based research to develop innovative techniques to enhance the practice of pharmacists. She is a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) Certified Menopause Practitioner, a consultant with the Scientific Advisory Council of Osteoporosis Canada, a member of the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) Editorial Advisory Committee, and a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists. She is also on the Board of Directors for SIGMA Canadian Menopause Society. Dr. Yuksel was one of the first pharmacists in Alberta to receive additional prescribing authorization, and has been actively involved in supporting policy-making for prescribing privileges at the provincial and national level.
Dr. Yuksel received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Alberta and went on to complete a General Hospital Pharmacy Residency at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC. She then completed her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the State University of New York in Buffalo in 1992.
