Andrea’s program of research is primarily in health services and health outcomes. She focuses on several areas including mental health, health professionals’ role revisions and implementation, transitions in care, and rational use of medicines and especially psychotropics. The majority of her research projects include mixed methods.
Andrea joined the College of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University in 2012 as an Associate Professor after being a faculty member at Dalhousie’s School of Nursing since 2002. She completed a hospital pharmacy residency (2000) at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and subsequently received a Doctor of Pharmacy from UBC in 2002. Her post-doctoral Fellowship was in Drug Use Management and Policy (2003–05). She has worked in various clinical areas including infectious diseases, internal medicine, and child and adolescent mental health.
