As an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the early 1990s, Nancy practiced pharmacy at Sunnybrook Medical Centre and developed the Faculty of Pharmacy’s post-baccalaureate PharmD program. While residing in Europe from 1994–2003, she completed her Master’s in Health Professions Education at the University of Maastricht and consulted in health policy, curriculum development and performance assessment of healthcare professionals. Upon her return to Canada, Nancy joined the Medical Office of the 21st Century research project at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine. At McGill, Nancy provides support to the clinical informatics research team in the areas of medication reconciliation, drug policy, therapeutics, methodology and national networking.

Nancy’s research program focuses on using administrative databases to both evaluate the quality of care provided by practising pharmacists and to determine system-based factors that influence this quality of care. Nancy also continues her consulting work with primarily national organizations, including the Canadian Forces, the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada and the Canadian Association of Physician’s Assistants.

Nancy is a member of OPEN’s Pharmacist services evaluation framework project, a research study that is developing a broadly accepted pharmacist services evaluation framework that has a set of comparative outcomes to provide evaluators and decision-makers guidance on the process and expected outcomes of pharmacist services.
